Welcome to our last update of the calendar year! 6th Grade Living Room Concerts All 6th Graders will be playing a concert for family over the next several weeks. Additional information is in their Google Classroom assignment. It would be great if families could help their student make arrangements to get their instrument home if it's not usually able to go on a bus so they can play for you! Solo and Ensemble Students should be getting their performance times before we leave for break. Remember that all soloists (except snare) will need to perform with a piano accompanist. Please contact me if you need assistance. Pre Festival Concerts Please note your student's performance date! Different ensembles will perform different nights. More details regarding these performances will be made available in January. Band Festival Only 8th Grade will be attending Festival this year. As soon as our performance date, time, and location are released it will be shared. 7th Grade Alternate Festival We will be trying a new format for a 7th Grade Festival experience this year. Rather than attending traditional MSBOA Festival, we'll be holding a cooperative learning and performance day with all RCS 7th Grade Bands and Oakland University music students and faculty. More details about this exciting experience will be coming soon! 6th Grade Instrument Switches As was mentioned during our concert, 6th graders have the option to request an instrument switch to help fill some gaps in our instrumentation. Interested students must fill out the form posted in Google Classroom no later than 12/20. Lessons We have great options for students to get extra help and/or challenge them as they learn. Extra help can be a big advantage to any student making an instrument switch as well. Students can work with a Stoney Creek student for FREE or take lessons with a local professional. Student contact information for FREE lessons is available on Google Classroom. Please see THIS LIST for professional private instructor contact information. Band is a lot more fun when you can play along and keep up! Gift Ideas Looking for a great band related gift for the upcoming season? Contact your student's teacher for ideas! Mouthpiece upgrades, new reeds, ligature upgrades, lessons and more make great gifts!!! Accessories and Supplies 7th and 8th Grade percussionists are strongly encouraged to purchase their own stick/mallet packs. They can be ordered from A&G using THIS FORM. Students can use this form to order reeds, oil, and other supplies as well.
