It's hard to believe we're on our fifth week of school already! Students are all getting into the routine and we're having fun playing in all classes. 7th and 8th Graders are now able to play inside, but 6th Grade is still outside until our band PPE arrives. Please help your 6th Grader remember a sweatshirt for morning rehearsals and some sunglasses for the afternoon!
RCS Marching Band Festival ALL families are invited to a FREE district wide Marching Band Festival on Saturday, October 2. It will feature performances from the Adams, Rochester, and Stoney Creek marching bands, color guards, drumlines, and a grand finale combined performance with all the marching bands and 8th graders from around Rochester. Performances begin at 7PM. There will be food trucks out prior to the performance as well. See THIS FLYER for more information. 8th Graders should arrive by 5PM for rehearsal. Once we're done with our combined practice, students can get food and will meet in the stands by 6:45. Please wear weather appropriate Hart or SCHS gear! Supplies Now that all classes are playing daily, it's important to be sure students have all the supplies they need daily. Items like reeds should be ordered BEFORE your student runs out. All students also need maintenance supplies like valve oil for trumpets and quality swabs for clarinets. These supplies can be ordered directly through A&G Central using THIS FORM. Please have your student bring in the form and check for A&G and their supplies will be delivered on Tuesdays.

Welcome back!!!!!!! It's been great seeing new and familiar faces these past two weeks. Now that we're really starting to get into the routine, here's some important information:
6th Grade Beginners TOMORROW (Tuesday) is our rental night at West Middle School. Instruments can be picked up between 4-8PM in the bus loop. Families who are NOT renting are still encouraged to contact A&G for a Premium Package to be sure their student has all the supplies necessary to get started successfully. If you selected School Delivery, your instrument is here and instruments will be handed out on Wednesday so that we'll be ready for... THURSDAY (September 16) is our Magic Day as it will be our first day making sounds together!!! Please help your student remember their instrument that day so that they don't miss out. PPE is still on order so we will be learning outside unless it is raining. It's important for your student to come prepared to spend time outside daily. 7th and 8th Graders Weather permitting, we will be outside until additional PPE becomes available. Last year, band PPE was available for students to purchase for $20. We will have it available for your student again this year if your student has lost it or is joining us from the Virtual Campus. We are working to secure the PPE now and it will be available in class as soon as possible. You can send payment with your child, cash or check payable to RCS. Rochester Community Schools Marching Band Festival 8th Graders will be performing alongside the district high school marching bands and other 8th grade ensembles on October 2. A rehearsal will be held prior to the event. Details are still being finalized and will be shared ASAP, but please plan on approximately 5-8PM for your student with the performance itself beginning at 7PM. Food trucks will be on site for students to purchase dinner. All grade levels are welcome to attend the performance at 7PM! Supplies If your student is in need of any supplies (reeds, swab, oil, etc), please send them with THIS FORM and a check made out to A&G Central. It is always important for reeds to be ordered before they run out. Also, all 7th and 8th Grade percussionists are strongly encouraged to purchase their own stick and mallet bag. Not only does this cut down on things needing to be shared, but it will start setting students up with what they'll need as a percussionist for the long term. |
