May 23: SCHS Music Registration Night (8th Grade ONLY) June 6: Harmony on the Hill at SCHS (6th ONLY) June 7-9: Mini Camps (8th Grade ONLY) THANK YOU families for your continued support and flexibility! A lot of time has been asked of our band students and families and everyone's presence has been so appreciated. We've only got a couple of events left for the year! Please read on for information on those events and information on summer lessons and additional practice and performance opportunities. SCHS Registration Night All 8th Graders participating in concert and marching band at Stoney Creek need to attend this evening's registration night. Two emails have been sent with links to be completed prior to going tonight. Please check those for additional information! Harmony on the Hill See HERE for a flyer for the 6th Grade's final performance of the year! Students should meet in the SCHS Band room at 3:45 and we perform at 4:00. Students are free to leave when we're done but all are welcome to enjoy the food trucks and performances from other groups from around Rochester! Students are responsible for getting their own instruments to the performance and should then take them home for the year when we're done! SCHS Mini Camps 8th Grade students participating in SCHS Marching Band will attend Mini Camps after our three half days June 7-June 9. They should plan to leave their lunches and instruments in the band room and then walk across to Stoney when we get out. Please see the SCHS Band Site HERE to get more information and updates regarding upcoming events! Instrument Return 7th Grade students not returning to band and 8th Grade students will return their Hart instruments this week. 6th Grade students not returning to band in the fall will return Hart instruments during their LAST day of band June 7, 8, or 9. A&G returns will also be collected on those days and the store will come pick them up. Private Lessons Summer lessons with a local professional are some of the best things any student can do to not only keep playing over the time off school, but to improve on their instrument. Whether a student needs help developing their confidence and catching up or needs an additional challenge, lessons are one of the best investments for a developing musician! Please check out THIS LIST for teacher information. Civic Youth Ensembles We have a lot of outstanding student musicians who should audition for the Detroit Symphony Orchestra Civic Youth Ensembles! They provide an amazing opportunity to work with students from all over the metro Detroit area and DSO musicians. Please check THIS LINK for more information. Supplies Now is the time to order additional supplies to make sure your student is well stocked for the summer to keep playing and maintaining their instrument. Percussionists planning on returning to band next year should also consider getting their own stick and mallet pack. Contact A&G directly and supplies can be delivered on our final remaining Tuesdays.
