Week 5!
Band Apparel Hart Band apparel, including polo shirts for 7th and 8th graders to wear for performances is now available through our online store, here. If you select "pick up," Mrs. RO will get them from the store and distribute in class. Names SHOULD NOT go on polo shirts as those are our onstage uniform. Our online store closes in two weeks, so be sure to order soon! Lessons Students can now sign up with high school students for FREE lessons! Stoney Creek student contact information can be accessed through GOOGLE CLASSROOM. Students interested in private professional lessons (which is a good idea for all students!) can also contact their teacher for recommendations. 6th Grade Practice Beginning band students should be planning regular times to practice at home. Some days and weeks it may be more than others, but the point is to start to get a consistent time in that fits with students' schedules. Remember a Friday trip home with an instrument is three potential nights to play on only one bus ride home! It is also HIGHLY recommended that students utilized the FREE online resources with their book to practice at home. The online resource provides play along tracks and example videos for a variety of topics and playing tips. Students wanting additional practice with note names can try the app Staff Wars or the site musicracer.com. Both can be a big help in remembering those lines and spaces. Toledo LAAAAST CALL!!!!!!! We're closing registration for interested 7th and 8th grade band students this week. Information can be found under the Important Documents tab. Instrument Cases and Lockers With so many instrument cases looking the same, please make sure to put something on your case to identify it! Luggage tags work really well, but masking tape with a name can work as well. It's also highly recommended that all students bring a COMBINATION lock to secure their instrument in the band room. Supplies We now have order forms for any student in need of supplies such as reeds, cork grease, valve oil, or swabs. Students whose instruments need reeds (clarinets, saxophones, oboes, bassoons) are encouraged to purchase packs or multiple reeds at once to be rotated. Beginners especially have a tendency to go through them faster as they get used to handling them. Reeds can be purchased during class, but that supply is meant for emergencies only and not as a regular source. 7th and 8th Grade percussionists are all encouraged to purchase their own stick and mallet bag. These sticks and mallets will be used daily and can also be ordered using the same form.

Week 4!
SCHS Homecoming The 8th Grade Band will be performing with the SCHS Cougar Marching Band on September 27! See you TONIGHT (September 23) at 6PM and at the game that Friday! Student uniform will be polo with black bottoms. We'll keep an eye on the weather if any alterations need to be made. See here for more details! Grades Most classes have only had a couple of graded items so far. If your student's grade seems low, they're likely missing the signed copy of the Syllabus that was due on September 10. Extra copies (labeled "grading and expectations) can be found under the Important Documents tab. Lessons Students can now sign up with high school students for FREE lessons!
