It was lovely seeing new and returning band family members at conferences last week and we're looking forward to it again tomorrow! Please read on for some important updates:
Practicing Goals A popular question from conferences was "should my student be bringing their instrument home?" The answer is...YES! But that's going to look different for every student. We understand that our students and families are busy, but even 10-15 minutes of practice a few days a week will make a HUGE difference in their confidence and comfort level. We are reaching a point where students who may be struggling are going to start becoming frustrated quickly as the overall class pace speeds up now that we've gotten going. Please encourage your student to set up a practicing routine and stick with it. Additionally, extra help is available before and after school for any student who would like some extra support. Please email Mrs. RO to set up a time (I'm happy to lend a hand with Mrs. Staniszewski's students too!). Supplies It is really important for students to have a supply of reeds to switch theirs out regularly. Reeds and other supplies (swab, valve oil, neckstrap, etc) can all be ordered using THIS FORM. Students cannot successfully play on broken or chipped reeds, and old reeds are a breeding ground for all sorts of molds and germs. End of Quarter 1 The First Marking Period ends on October 29. THE LAST DAY FOR LATE OR REDONE SUBMISSIONS TO BE TURNED IN IS OCTOBER 25 to allow time for everything to be checked in time for our grading deadline. Band Calendar With the first quarter ending so soon, our calendar is about to start ramping up. Please make sure you've got our concert dates on your family calendar. You can find the calendar on this site under Important Documents. Solo and Ensemble Be on the lookout for Solo and Ensemble information to come home with our 7th and 8th grade students SOON! All 7th and 8th Graders are strongly encouraged to participate in this event.
