Parents and Guardians interested in getting updates from Google Classroom can enroll here. FREE Private Lessons
We are once again partnering with our friends across the street at SCHS to offer FREE lessons for our students at Hart! ALL students are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity, even if it's just a couple lessons to check on specific questions. Our newest musicians and students who've recently switched should especially utilize this program to make sure we're all on the right track! Simply use this link to find contact information for a high school student playing your instrument and set up a time! (students must be signed into Google with their Rochester account to access!) Rochester Youth Winds Join students from across the district in a special event just for Rochester Community Schools 6th-8th Band Students! Rehearsals will be held in the evening on November 28 and 29 at Rochester High School and the performance will be December 1. Follow the link above in green to get the information on registering through Enrichment! Detroit Symphony Orchestra Information and permission slips went home with ALL students on Friday. Extra copies can be found under the Important Documents tab here on the band website. All permission slips and money are due by October 2. Ordering Supplies Students in need of reeds, oil, or other supplies can use this order form or call any of our local stores for delivery. All reed players should have a minimum of at least three usable reeds available at any time, brass players should all have their own valve or slide oil, and 7th and 8th Grade percussionists are encouraged to purchase their own sticks/mallets to use throughout the year. Instrument Identification and Lockers All students are reminded that they should put something identifying but non-permanent (such as a ribbon on the handle) of their case to help separate theirs from others that look identical. They should also remember to NEVER move or touch another student's instrument. We will finish assigning lockers to all students this week. All State Auditions As was discussed in class, auditions will be held on either October 25 or October 26 at Seneca Middle School. Once date and time assignments are shared by MSBOA I will get them out to students. Audition materials will come home with students who signed up this week.

A big CONGRATULATIONS to the 8th Grade on a marvelous performance with the Stoney Creek Marching Band at Homecoming last Friday! They sounded great and really represented themselves and Hart very well. Parents and Guardians interested in getting updates from Google Classroom can enroll here. Detroit Symphony Orchestra Be on the lookout for letters and permission slips for all grade levels to come home this week for our upcoming trips to see the Detroit Symphony Orchestra in October! All State Band Students interested in auditioning for this year's All-State Band should fill out a registration form ASAP! Forms were made available to students in class last week. Ordering Supplies Students in need of reeds, oil, or other supplies can use this order form or call any of our local stores for delivery. We've made it through our first week with many more musical ones to go!
All students should now be enrolled in their Google Classroom. Students having problems accessing it from home should talk with their teacher ASAP. 6th Grade We started making our first sounds on mouthpieces last Friday! It was an exciting and very noisy day. Over the next week we'll start putting full instruments together and learning from our band books. With so many students playing the same instrument, it's recommended that students tie something identifying on the handle to their case to help prevent them from being mixed up. Order forms will be made available soon for students to purchase basic care and maintance items for their instruments such as valve oil, cork grease, and swabs. Students playing reed instruments should also order several reeds. 7th Grade We're up and running and doing some great work out of our band books this week! We do have some spots open to help fill in some middle and low sounds in the bands. Interested students should speak with me ASAP so we can get everyone on the same page. 8th Grade There is a rehearsal at Stoney Creek this evening from 6:00-7:15. Students with any conflict are asked to make as much of the practice as possible so that they're prepared for Friday. Click here for more information! |
