Thank you SO much to everyone who came to our 2nd Annual Chamber Music Night! The students prepared for this event for a long time and we were so grateful to everyone who came and supported our musicians.
Only three weeks to go! We're done with performances for the year but there is still much to do. School Owned Instruments Any student using an instrument owned by Hart Middle School needs to fill out this form ASAP! We need this information to start planning end of year and summer repairs as well as instrument inventory available for incoming band students. 2017-2018 Scheduling We've had several inquiries regarding scheduling band for next year for both Hart and future SCHS students. Even though schedule requests have already been turned in, changes can still be made. You simply need to contact your counselor! 2017-2018 Band Calendar While there are still a few things that need to be added, start planning for next year with our 2017-2018 Band Calendar! 8th Graders Students and families are encouraged to start keeping up with Mrs. Staniszewski's updates on the SCHS Band site and join the SCHS Band Facebook Group to stay informed on summer dates and upcoming events. Private Lessons Working with a private teacher over the summer is not only a great way to improve your skills but to keep up with playing regularly while we're off school! Along with the list of teachers under the Important Documents tab, we're also fortunate to have a great program through Oakland University right in our own back yard. Click here for more information! Classroom Furniture Doing some spring cleaning? Student moving out of their dorm? We can help! To continue to make the band room more inviting, comfortable, and collaborative we’re seeking some furniture pieces outside our usual band chairs and stands. If you have any of the following in good, clean condition from a non-smoking home and would be interested in donating, we’d love to add it to our room:

Reeds and Other Supplies Please don't try and stretch those last couple of reeds or drops of valve oil through the end of the year! Old reeds are very hard to play well on and can become a very gross breeding ground for all sorts of bacteria. With a quick call to one of our local vendors (Anderson's, A&G, or Hewitt's), you can have any supplies delivered to the school when our reps make their weekly visits. Plus, you'll need them for practicing over the summer to be ready for the next year of awesome! Private Lessons Speaking of playing over the summer, along with the great FREE program we have available with SCHS for tutoring, we're fortunate to live in an area with outstanding professional private teachers as well. If you're interested, please see the information posted in Important Documents to get in touch with a private instructor. ALL students can benefit from the expertise of a specialist in their instrument and it can be a great way to improve your skills for the fall! |
