It's hard to believe, but the 3rd marking period ends in just a couple of weeks! Students need to start wrapping up their late work and be sure they're keeping up with new assignments. As always, they must email their teacher when submitting late or redone work. We've been working hard on our sheet music while still learning new things! 6th Grade now knows four different major scales and just started working on a chromatic scale! Students had a playing test due this past week. Check with your student to make sure it was completed. 7th Grade Our All-City Band Concert performance at Stoney Creek High School is coming up soon on March 28! The concert starts at 7:00 and should be done around 8:00. This is a required performance for all seventh graders. 8th Grade As soon as dates and times are released for State Festival, they'll be posted here as well as our social media. In the mean time, we're preparing for a busy May that will be here sooner than we think!

It's been another busy week for the Hart Bands! We've got a couple of weeks before our next events, but make sure you're keeping an eye on that calendar. The end of the marking period is coming up very soon! Please remind your student to check on their Google Classroom assignments to make sure everything is up to date. As was shared in our syllabus, students whose grade shows as an I (1%) are missing work. Students MUST email their teacher when work is submitted late or redone. VOTE FOR STONEY CREEK HIGH SCHOOL!!!!!! They're in the running to perform the National Anthem at a Detroit Tigers game and earn a $5000 grant! Please share the link and remember to vote daily! 6th Grade Our students did an excellent job at our Detroit Symphony Orchestra Field trip! They represented Hart and Rochester Community Schools well! We really enjoyed the performance and our lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe. Thank you to the staff and family members who volunteered to spend the day with us and make our trip possible! Check out our social media pages for pictures from the day! 7th Grade Our next big event is the All-City Band concert at Stoney Creek High School on March 28 at 7:00. Each middle school's 7th Grade band will perform as well as one ensemble from each of the high schools. 8th Grade We are going to State Band Festival!!! We will likely be performing on April 29 or April 30. The official date and time will be shared as soon as it is posted by MSBOA. Also, kudos to the 8th Grade Band on their performance at this week's assembly! Congratulations to our 7th and 8th Grade ensembles on their wonderful performances at Band Festival on Friday! The 7th Grade earned a Division II rating and the 8th grade earned a DIVISION I! Both groups should be extremely proud of how they played!
6th Grade Our Detroit Symphony Orchestra trip is this week! Students will be selecting their groups this week. All chaperones are asked to please arrive at 9:00 on Thursday to get checked in and get their group list. Students are reminded to please dress nicely out of respect for the Orchestra performers and the venue. 7th Grade Make sure your calendars are marked for the All-City Band performance on March 28 at Stoney Creek High School! More details coming soon. 8th Grade From Stoney Creek High School Bands: Concert Ensembles April 2017 NYC Trip: SCHS Bands to perform at Carnegie Hall! It's official! The SCHS Band program will travel to New York City in April 2017! Our 2017 trip will include many highlights, including working with professional musicians and performing on stage at Carnegie Hall! Other highlights will include: seeing a Broadway show, visiting many NYC landmarks and highlights, sightseeing, and more! Space is LIMITED for this trip. The first 44 students and 10 parent chaperones to submit their deposits will be guaranteed, after which a wait list will be created. Should we have enough students and parents to fill a second bus from the wait list, they will also be cleared for travel. Anyone interested in traveling with us is HIGHLY encouraged to attend and bring a checkbook for the deposit to our initial trip meeting on Wednesday, March 9th at 7pm in the band room (following Parent/Teacher Conferences). |
