It was great getting to meet so many families at Curriculum Night this past week. We're looking forward to meeting more at parent teacher conferences soon!
Google Classroom for ALL Grades All grade levels have had their first assignment posted in Google Classroom. If you want to keep up with posts in Google Classroom, parents can now get Guardian Summaries! These summary emails will include information about upcoming assignments, missing assignments, and any other posted activity. Families interested in getting summaries should fill out this form with their email address. Due to Google's privacy and security settings, you need a Google Account to sign up. Because teachers have to input each guardian address manually, please allow up to a week before you receive an email invitation to join, especially in this busy early part of the school year. Parents cannot be enrolled if their student has not yet joined their Google Classroom. 6th Grade We've almost all made it to everybody's favorite, Hot Cross Buns! Students very first practice reflections are due on Monday through Google Classroom. Any students having technology issues should let their teacher know ASAP. 7th Grade Check out our first post from the flutes this week! Every student social media post will be tagged #HMSBsp (Hart Middle School Band student post). Keep an eye out for more student posts to come! Students should remember to please get their December Concert suggestions posted by tomorrow through Google Classroom so we can start voting soon!
8th Grade
We've got a big week coming up with our combined performance with Stoney Creek on Friday. Click here for more information on Monday night's rehearsal and the Homecoming Game on September 30! Students are finishing up our interactive word wall in the band room using the app BlippAR. If you're in the building, come by the room and check it out! 8th Graders are also reminded to complete their December Concert Suggestions.

Our first full week is in the books and we are in full swing now! I'm really looking forward to meeting with our band families at Curriculum Night this Wednesday!
Students should be on the lookout for their first assignments to be posted soon! Once all of our students have their own band books, we'll begin posting practice reflections and tests in Google Classroom. Parents cannot be enrolled if their student has not yet joined their Google Classroom. Student Updates Keep an eye out on our social media and updates next week! Sections of the band will begin writing their own updates as well as helping to contribute to our Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter accounts. 6th Grade Most of our new clarinet, alto saxophone, and oboe players are finding themselves in need of reeds already. Though they won't go through them as quickly once they're more used to handling them, it is really important for students to keep several on hand at all times. It is also recommended that they rotate them daily so that they always have reeds that are broken in and ready to play. Reeds can be purchased at any of our local music stores or ordered from someplace like A&G Central or Anderson's and will be delivered to Hart. Ms. Rever does keep a small supply on hand, but those are meant for emergencies only. 7th Grade A huge shout out to the students who have been trying out different instruments over the summer and the last two weeks to help fill some gaps in our band! The difference in our sound is already noticible and we're so grateful to those willing to give something new a try! 8th Grade Information about our rehearsal and performance with Stoney Creek's marching band at their Homecoming game went home with students last week. Extra copies are available in the band room and can also be found under the Important Documents tab here on the website. Welcome back! We've all made it through the first week and are excited to kick off week two!

Room Updates To continue making the band room more inviting, comfortable, and collaborative we’re seeking some furniture pieces outside our usual band chairs and stands. Thank you so much to the family who donated our new couch. If you have any of the following in good, clean condition from a non-smoking home and would be interested in donating, we’d love to add it to our room:
6th Grade All student should now have and be bringing their instruments to class daily. If there are still any concerns regarding obtainin an instrument, please contact your student's teacher. We know that many students are still waiting on band books. Those should be coming in this week and will be handed out ASAP. Many of our 6th grader oboe, clarinet, and saxophone players have only one or two reeds. Extras should be purchased soon as those will only last a short time, especially if they are broken. Reeds can be ordered from Anderson's or A&G and will be delivered during the week. 7th Grade We're getting back in shape and are excited to be playing again! 8th Grade 8th Grade will be performing with the Stoney Creek Marching Band at Homecoming on September 30!
