It's difficult to believe that we're halfway through the school year already! Solo and Ensemble Congratulations to all of our participants at Solo and Ensemble at Rochester High School this past Saturday. Many events earned 1st and 2nd Division ratings and all attendees should be proud of stepping outside their comfort zone and performing in a small ensemble for a judge. Well done! Private Lessons ALL students are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunities available for private lessons. Students can work with a FREE tutor from SCHS or seek out one of the many outstanding professionals in the area. SCHS tutor info will be re-posted in Google Classroom. Information on professional private teachers has been posted in Important Documents. Google Classroom With the start of the new semester comes new classes to enroll in to have a fresh start for the second half of the year. First semester classes will be archived on February 10 after report cards have come out and grades have been verified. Students need to enroll in their new class ASAP to stay up to date with their assignments. The following are the new codes for the second semester: 1st: 67ktg7b 2nd: oloxt6 3rd: dk6zkv3 4th: uelkv6 5th: 6t8ep5j 6th: joc2411 Pre-Festival Concert 8th Grade students will be performing at Stoney Creek as a part of their Pre-Festival concert on February 23 at 7PM. Hart and SCHS' bands will perform for a clinician and receive feedback to improve their performance for Band Festival. Band Festival We have been tentatively scheduled for March 2 at Roseville Junior High. 7th Grade should be around 4PM and 8th grade will be around 8PM. Since their first posting, our times have shifted a bit but the date and location has remained constant, so I anticipate that will stay the same. Everything should be finalized by MSBOA within the next week or so. All-City Band The 7th Grade Band will be performing in Rochester Community Schools' annual All-City Band Concert which will be held at Adams High School on March 28.

There are no final exams for band students and all are reminded to please bring their instrument so that we can play during exam times. With the exception of one 7th/8th assignment due on Monday, January 23, ALL other assignments were due from all students on Friday January 20 to allow time for them to be checked in time for the end of the semester. Solo and Ensemble A sign up sheet for extra help with Ms. Rever has been posted in Google Classroom. Students are encouraged to come for at least one practice to make sure they're on track for January 28. She is also available after the half days during final exams. Students wishing to stay after those days should speak to her. All events must be a minimum of 1'30". Please make sure you're timing your performance as you practice. Soloists who require an accompanist should contact one ASAP! If you need help finding one, please let Ms. Rever know. Times were posted in the band room and on Google Classroom two weeks ago. As soon as dates and times are released (likely late January to early February) they'll be posted. Honors Band 7th and 8th Graders interested in participating in this year's Honors Band should fill out the form posted in Important Documents and bring it in no later than Tuesday, January 10! Selections are done by an MSBOA committee based on required instrumentation. Interested students must be available to attend both rehearsals as well as the performance. Nominations do not guarantee selections. All-City Band This year's All-City Band performance will be on March 28. More details coming soon! |
