Another week in the books! 6th Grade classes have now made it all the way to everyone's favorite: Hot Cross Buns! 7th Grade has been working hard together to begin preparing music for our December concert. And 8th Grade is really getting the hang of our pieces for the combined performance with the SCHS Marching Band on October 9.
Any 8th Graders needing a band polo for the Oct 9 performance need to get their orders in by MONDAY so that we can have them in time for Homecoming. Order forms and additional information on the rehearsal and game can be found under the Important Documents tab. In keeping with tradition, music for October 9 needs to be memorized, so please encourage your student to be working on their music at home to accomplish this goal! First Google Classroom assignments will be posted for all classes within the next couple of days. Make sure your student has enrolled in their class using their Rochester Schools login information. After some additional tinkering over the last week, it's been discovered that students using a mobile device, especially a phone, to access Google Classroom should do so through their browser (Chrome, Safari, Internet Explorer, etc) and NOT the app. Assignment due date policy: Students may turn in any assignment through the end of the marking period for full credit (if full credit is earned). The due date means that it is fair game for grades to be entered and have them appear on MyRCS.

Greetings Band Families!
We're officially two weeks into the school year and all classes are now playing together! All students should have turned in their signed syllabus by 9/15. Assignments will be accepted through the end of the marking period for full credit, but some students' grades may not be up to expectations at this point if the syllabus has not been turned in. Assignments through Google Classroom will be assigned soon for all grades. Students who need their login information can get it from Mrs. R-O. Class codes for enrollment can be found to the right and on grade level pages. 6th Grade All 6th Graders should have an instrument at this point and should even be able to play you a note or two! If there are still questions or issues with instruments, please contact either Mrs. Rever-Oberle or Mrs. Staniszewski. We will begin doing practice journals soon so please make sure your student enrolls in their Google Classroom so that they will be able to submit their assignments. 7th Grade The 7th Grade Band has had some great rehearsals this week! They've been working together on learning new scales as well as things we can do to improve the overall sound of the band. It's been awesome to have so many students willing to switch instruments to fill some gaps in our band and they've been doing really well. Remember that any student interested in some free lessons from a SCHS band member can get the contact information from Mrs. R-O. 8th Grade The 8th Grade Band now has all of the music for our joint performance with the SCHS Marching Band on October 9. We're hoping to have this music memorized for the game so please encourage your student to be practicing at home. If they need examples to listen to while working they can find the link on our Google Classroom page or try the free app we discussed in class called NotateMe Now. A big thank you to any of our students who have been working on learning new instruments to help out the band too! |
