It's hard to believe, but we're nearly halfway through the school year already! That means that all assignments are due by January 29 to be eligible for full credit. Please make sure your student is up to date on their work. Remember that practice reflections will not be accepted more than two weeks past their due date.
Students resubmitting or turning in late work MUST EMAIL THEIR TEACHER to make sure their assignment is checked in! All classes had to complete their digital portfolio and some written work Thursday and Friday this past week. None of the band classes will have final exams this week. Students who are missing assignments will be encouraged to utilize their exam time to finish work while classes participate in other activities. Stoney Creek High School Bands will be hosting their Instrument Petting Zoo this Tuesday from 5-7PM. We hope to see the younger siblings of our band students there checking out potential instrument choices for next school year! Please check here for a calendar of events for the second half of the year. 6th Grade Detroit Symphony Orchestra information will finally come home the week of February 1 when we kick of Semester 2. 7th and 8th Grade Band Festival will likely be March 4 at Roseville High School. Once things have been finalized through MSBOA, I will get additional details out to families. Both classes will be seeing guest clinicians over the coming weeks to help us prepare for this performance. The 8th Grade will be performing at Stoney Creek's Pre-Festival Concert on February 24 at 7PM.

Congratulations to all of our 7th and 8th Grade Students who participated in Solo and Ensemble on Saturday! I'm so proud of you all for putting yourselves out there. It's not an easy thing do do and you all represented Hart Middle School very well!
All student work for Q2 is due by January 29. Please remember that practice reflections will not be accepted more than two weeks past their due date, but all other work will still be taken for the opportunity to earn full credit through January 29. Students having technical or logistical issues NEED to speak to their teacher ASAP to make alternate arrangements to complete work. 6th Grade We're waiting on one last confirmation to finally come through and then Detroit Symphony Orchestra information and permission slips will be coming out. Sorry for the delays! Please continue to remind your student to stay up to date on their work. 1/29 will be here faster than they realize! 7th and 8th Grade Band festival preparations are continuing! While nothing is finalized yet, it's looking more and more like Band Festival will be March 4. Please save the date! Also, 8th Grade Band will be performing at Stoney Creek High School on February 24 as a part of their Pre-Festival concert. Both bands will be seeing clinicians in class during regular school hours. The end of the marking period is rapidly approaching! All Q2 work must be submitted NO LATER than January 29. I was unfortunately locked out of MyRCS mid-update this morning, so while work has been checked on Google Classroom, MyRCS will not reflect that until after I can get my account unlocked tomorrow. Please read for the rest of this week's update:
6th Grade: Reading the feedback from everybody's Living Room Concert was very enjoyable! Please remember that submitting the form does not automatically mark the assignment as done. Just like the "Turn In" button needs to be hit after uploading a video, the "Mark as Done" button needs to be clicked to indicate that the form has been filled out. Please check with your student on their upcoming assignments! There are practice reflections as well as playing tests posted in GC. Information and permission slips for our Detroit Symphony Orchestra field trip should come out this week. It took a bit longer than anticipated to get confirmation from Hard Rock for our lunch contract. My apologies for any confusion if you were looking for the information this week! 7th and 8th Grade Students with an Incomplete are currently missing one or more assignments. Please remember that all Q2 work is due by January 29. Best of luck to our students participating in Solo and Ensemble at Rochester High School this coming Saturday! A few reminders for participants:
Happy New Year Hart Band Family! Hopefully your break has been awesome and everybody is recharged to take on the next part of the school year.
6th Grade We've been enjoying the feedback from the Living Room Concerts and really hope you've enjoyed listening to our student performances. Don't forget that the due date for the feedback form is January 6. Information and permission slips for a trip to see the Detroit Symphony Orchestra on March 9 will be coming home with all 6th Graders soon! Please keep an eye out and ask your student. 7th and 8th Grade Both groups have had two written assignments as well as the Ab and Db scales due. 7th Graders also had a practice reflection due prior to break. We'll be finishing out the first semester at the end of January so please encourage your student to get their work done ASAP. The schedule for students performing at Solo and Ensemble has been posted in Google Classroom. There is also a sign up sheet for students to come before or after school for extra help. I'd really like to see each soloist or ensemble at least once prior to their performance, especially if they are not studying privately. Students received the last of their Band Festival music just before we left for Break. Festival will likely be March 3, but more specific details will not be available for a couple more weeks. PLEASE make sure that date is marked in the family calendar! 8th Graders will also be participating in Stoney Creek's Pre-Festival concert on February 24 at 7PM (this is an important date to mark as well!). This will be a great opportunity to perform their music and gain valuable feedback from the guest clinician that SCHS brings in. Plans are in the works for 7th grade to have a similar experience during regular school hours. |
